Question 9
The Correct Answer Is: TRUE
1 Corinthians 15:1-3: "1 Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you — unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,"
As we have been trying to teach in this series of lessons, sin is against God and therefore punishment from God for those who commit sins is just. But God, in addition to being a God of justice, is also a God of grace and mercy. Even though man could not work his way out from under the weight of his own sin, God could provide a Savior for man who would pay the price for sins Himself, thus allowing God to be just, while at the same time providing the forgiveness of sins through his grace and mercy. That sacrifice required the shed blood of a sinless man though in order for the price for sin to be paid (the price for sin being the life of the sinner). The reason that blood needed to be shed is because Genesis 9:4 says that the life is in the blood. So, when Jesus, the sinless Son of God shed his blood for us by dying on the cross, the price for sin, all the sin from every person who ever lived was paid, thus opening up the door to forgiveness. But that doesn't mean that everybody's sin is automatically forgiven: one still has to in faith obey God in order to obtain forgiveness. But anybody, man or woman, could obtain that forgiveness. It doesn't require some special calling of God, or religious experience. It just requires a faith that will obey Jesus.
