Question 4
The Correct Answer Is: FALSE
2 Peter 1:19-21: "19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." (NKJV)
Many people accuse the Bible of being just a man-made document. They do this to discredit it as an authority that must be followed. But if the Bible is a man-made document, it should show the signs of one. It should present the characters of each book in the most positive light as possible. The Bible doesn't do that, it shows that its characters of faith were flawed, just like you or me. If the Bible was man-made, it should have errors or inconsistencies scattered throughout due to the fact that it claims to be precise in its telling of history. Wherever archaeology has unearthed something that the Bible speaks of, the Bible has always shown to be right. And if the Bible was man-made, some of the doctrines taught within its pages, would contradict with other doctrines. Again, the Bible is perfectly consistent with itself, always showing that the way of salvation is by grace through faith in the true God of this universe. The Apostle Peter in the above passage, teaches that no prophecy of scripture (meaning word of scripture) is of any private interpretation (origin), for the word did not come by the will of man, but through God (the Holy Spirit). And when you examine the Bible as a whole, its unity, consistency and accuracy all show this to be true. So, the conclusion has to be that the Bible is not man-made, but a product of the mind of God.
